Blooming

This piece was for an assignment in my Basic Painting class this past fall at Quincy College. The task was to create an expressive portrait. I chose to paint a woman where part of the skin on her face is melting off and her eye socket has an iris flower blooming out of it. She is also an android, so in this moment of pain, her wires and bits of circuitry become exposed. This piece was made with acrylic paints on 11 x 15 canvas.
