Don’t try this at home

This piece depicts my original character, Maeve Baltas. She is in the midst of smoking on a rooftop in the middle of New York City. The title, Don’t try this at home, refers to her smoking habit, as well her habit of sneaking onto rooftops. This piece is meant to show how despite her young age and how much life she has left to live, she is purposely playing with her life like a toy. She has little to no care for her own well being, and is posing for a photo, clearly seeing no issue with her actions. A key element of her story is her mental health struggles, and her unhealthy coping mechanisms, which this illustration serves as an example of.
